The primary challenge of this project was to create an early 20 th Century, classic Americana look with all the conveniences of a modern kitchen. We used custom, beadboard-style cabinetry with linen paint and offset it with a celery-green island. A cast iron farm sink and soapstone countertops were used in place of other modern fabricated materials, and a Classic Heartland double oven, hidden range hood and undercounter microwave all serve to disguise the new modern appliances and achieve an old-fashioned feel. A stenciled hardwood floor in a diamond pattern ties the kitchen together with a large wooden table with a custom-made top in the new banquet area.
